In her own words : Tara Williams

“ I grew up in a small town very far from the coast in Lancashire ; not the most inspiring place to learn to dive , but it seeped into my life anyway when I was 15 . This was ahead of an expedition to Honduras aimed at collecting data to supplement the conservation of the cloud forests and coral reefs there . The trip completely changed my life , and I now work in marine conservation and integrate diving with my work wherever I can . I ’ m almost a year into a PhD with the University of Exeter and Convex Seascape Survey , aimed at quantifying how much carbon is stored by seabed communities and how we can enhance this with MPA networks .” an opportunity to bring like-minded members of the southwest ’ s marine community together in celebration of this verdant vista . “ We are hoping to host several more exhibitions throughout winter and springtime ahead of the release of our photobook next year ,” says Tara .
“ We dive here with friends , for fun , and with students of all levels of experience . I think it ’ s one of those places that refreshes a passion for diving , and always delivers something new . Earlier this year , we dived , completely unexpectedly , during a mass whelk egg laying event offshore from Trebah Gardens . It was a spectacle , and really drove home the importance of this area to creatures big and small , and all life stages .”
