TRAVELSPECIAL
You may be interested to learn that Tenerife is a UNESCO World Heritage site , largely due to the imposing Mount Teide , the highest of all the Atlantic islands and the third largest volcano in the world . Another geographical feature of Tenerife , the Massif of Anaga , has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2015 , and is home to several endemic species .
Finally , if you ’ d like a contrast to Tenerife ’ s tourist trail , ask for a trip to the deserted port of El Valito , known for its underwater scenery . Now reclaimed by fish , the old harbour has a varied topography and is shallow enough for Ocean Divers . If you do hanker for more advanced dives in the same area , there is a cave at 26 metres that offers a more challenging prospect .
