POOR VIZ FAILED TO DAMPEN THE SPIRITS of the underwater photographers who took part in the fifth Torbay BSAC Splash-In competition . A total of 65 entries were filed by the end of the day , giving competition judge Peter Rowlands a challenge to choose the final winners .
Held from the Royal Torbay Yacht Club , the Torbay BSAC Splash-In is one of the few oneday underwater photography competitions to have continued through the Covid pandemic .
This year , there were four categories - wide angle , macro / close up , compact camera and beginners – as well as an overall ‘ Popular Vote ’.

Winning the wide-angle category was Dan Bolt , with a surreal double image merged in-camera . This fused an image from a night dive at Babbacombe with a topside night sky scene at Hope ’ s Nose .
With sponsors , including Oonasdivers and O ’ Three , the standard of the final entries was impressively high , with the winners being presented with their awards at a special evening dinner at the Yacht Club .
