The 75th Anniversary
To celebrate our 75th anniversary , the CDG is holding a dinner for members and guests , close to the point where the group was founded in South Wales . With cash behind the bar and accommodation on the doorstep , we have every intention to make up for the last 18 months of confinement .
After dinner , veteran caver and BBC film producer Sid Preou will deliver a presentation on the 75-year history of the group before the annual charity raffle , with sponsorship from both the caving and diving worlds . Our aim is to raise essential funds for cave rescue organisations in England and Wales .
The highlight of this year ’ s raffle is a breathing air compressor , generously provided by FPS Compressors in Oxford , closely followed by a Scurion Diving torch laser etched for the anniversary and generously donated by the manufacturers in Switzerland . Thanks are also due to Kent Tooling , who are producing a custom-made line reel specially engraved for the anniversary ; O ’ Three ; Fourth Element ; SpanSet ; Warmbac ; Inglesport ;
Starless River ; D ° LUXE Dive Gear ; Beaver Sports ; ukcaving forum ; and Wookey Hole Caves , who are also supporting the raffle .
And finally ...
While the CDG has a rich history with many landmark moments , we look to the future and continue to provide mentoring and development for the next generation of UK cave divers . The group is thriving and attracting new members who want to learn the skills required to safely explore underground sites in the UK . �
