By the conclusion of the weekend, the numbers told their own story: approximately 43 hours of training and preparation, more than 22 hours spent operating from the boat and six dives completed. Long days and short nights became the norm, but every hour contributed to a valuable learning experience.
Yet perhaps the most rewarding outcome was not measured in hours, dives or assessments.
Although the four candidates arrived as members of two different BSAC branches, they quickly developed a strong team spirit. Throughout the weekend they challenged one another, shared ideas, exchanged experiences and offered support whenever it was needed. By the final debrief, it was clear that something more than a training course had taken place. New friendships had been formed.
Conversations soon turned towards future cooperation between the two clubs, joint training events and opportunities to continue developing together as divers and instructors. In many ways, this reflected one
of BSAC’ s greatest strengths: bringing people together through a shared passion for diving and learning.
The official examination results will follow in the coming weeks. However, regardless of the final outcome, the course has already demonstrated the growing strength of BSAC training in Germany and the commitment of volunteers who continue to invest in both their own development and that of future generations of divers.
And if all four candidates are successful,

they will return to their clubs as Advanced Instructors— ready not only to teach, but to mentor instructors, develop Advanced Divers, lead challenging diving activities and help shape the future of BSAC diving in Germany.
Of course, despite the intensity of the programme, one essential element was never forgotten: having fun.
By the time the article is published, everyone will already know that the weekend was a success – they can now proudly call themselves Advanced Instructors!
