Toyah Dyer completes her Ocean Diver with Mark Lewis

“ After some liaison with the Milford Haven Port Authority , it was all systems go !”

Following some shed rummaging , Hywel soon discovered he had enough buoys and good quality line for the task – bonus ! A weekend was set aside in March at the beginning of the season for the project , Mark Lewis ( founding member of the BSAC branch , Scavenger Boat Club ) suggested we could incorporate setting the shots as part of a training weekend scheduled with Heads of the Valleys BSAC branch ( HVSAC ). Scavenger is a purpose-built dive vessel which makes an ideal platform to support the project task . After some liaison with the Milford Haven Port Authority , it was all systems go !
The weekend in question came and our divers were spoiled with glorious sunshine and flat seas , not the ‘ typical ’ weather one would expect for March . The combination of excellent weather , top notch organising from Sarah Cross ( HVSAC ) and enthusiastic divers meant shot lines were placed , many dives were enjoyed and , in the process , an Ocean Diver was qualified .
Now that we have made these wrecks more accessible to divers , why would you want to make the effort to come and dive them ? The answer is simple ; they are all cracking dives and in depths accessible to Ocean Divers as well as more experienced divers . Their sheltered location and minimal currents meaning they can be safely dived at virtually any state of tide .
