SCUBA November 2021 Issue 120 | Page 3

Welcome

Believe it or not , these next two issues represent the 10-year anniversary of SCUBA , your club magazine . I say two issues , because December is digital-only , and the plan is to spread our celebrations over both formats .
This issue , the focus is on giving you some exceptional content across the features pages . For next month , I ’ m going to select some of my favourite set-piece features from the past 10 years to create a ‘ best of ’ special .
Anniversary issues can be a tad self-congratulatory , so you ’ ll only find a few references to it in these pages . As always , let ’ s concentrate on the diving . This issue , we have regular contributor Kirsty Andrews filing a landmark photo essay from the Scottish Outliers , while technical editor Neil Hope gets his hands on the new Hollis Prism II rebreather , asking if it will catch on in the land of the Yellow Box .
Meanwhile , we hear from a new contributor , Jake Davies , the marine biologist who was the first to film the critically endangered angel shark Squatina squatina in UK waters . This is an important story , with its implications for conservation .
This month also sees the publication of Two Worlds , a fine art book by the great ( some say , greatest ) underwater photographer , David Doubilet . I took the opportunity to interview David and catch up with his views of the ever-expanding worlds of diving , exploration and image-making . All this , plus your favourite SCUBA columnists ; news ; club profiles ; expeditions ; conservation ; kit reviews ; quizzes and snorkelling with our man of many wetsuits , Andy Torbet .
As ever , thanks to everyone for reading and contributing to your club magazine . It is an honour to serve you ; please keep in touch and write in with your own story ideas and observations . This is , always , your magazine .
