When members of Thurrock Aqualung Club packed their bags for the Philippines, we knew we were in for something special. What we didn’ t expect was how quickly the country would draw us back again. Two summers, countless islands, dozens of dives, and more than a few unforgettable encounters later, the Philippines has etched itself into our hearts as one of the most exhilarating dive destinations on the planet.

Our travelling crew – Darren Gibbs( Advanced Diver, OWI), Maria Steer( Dive Leader, OWI), Callum Gibbs( Sports Diver), Tony Aitkenhead( Ocean Diver), and eight-year-old Louie Gibbs, a snorkeller-intraining – took a different approach from the start. We had ideas of where we wanted to dive, but no rigid schedules. Flights and hotels were arranged as we went, Manila serving as our hub. The result?
