since. We joined BSAC on 17 February 1998, becoming branch 2198, and have gone from strength to strength.
And what a great logo
We recently updated it when member Harriet Way of Dog & Leaf Design came forward with an idea. We asked members about the design and tweaked it a bit. Our old logo didn’ t really say‘ diving club’, the new one does. It wasn’ t really something we planned; but we believe, if a member makes a suggestion, as the committee we need to explore it. So now it’ s on our mugs too, which are made by poppetspersonalgifts, on Etsy.
Tell us a bit about your base
Yr Wyddgrug, or Mold, is a town in Flintshire, North Wales, on the River Alyn. We have great access to both the sea and inland sites. We use the local pool for training and a church hall for our dry sessions, which keeps the club closely connected to the local community. The hall is a large space that gives us the flexibility to run several different lessons at a time, while the rest of our members chat without disturbing any lectures. We also have the opportunity to host movie nights for members and family there. We show any dive-related movies, no matter how tenuous the link and it’ s a fun club evening.

Engine problems that have stopped this club diving from its boat haven’ t held back members pursuing their passion for diving. They celebrate success with special mugs for logbook milestones of 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 dives.

I am instantly curious about the name of your club …
When formed in 1977 as a Sub Aqua Association( SAA) affiliated club, we were based at the Golden Lion pub in Wrexham. Our move to Mold happened in the late 1990s and we’ ve been based there ever
