Initially , UK diving may seem daunting . The kit is heavier , the windows of opportunity are tighter because of our tidal seas . But the payoff is so rewarding , it brings people together in a way few other sports can equal .
Diving friendships have deep roots , perhaps because learning to dive is an intimate , intricate process . Recently , for instance , BSAC has been sending certificates to veterans who have been teaching for 30 years or more . They have created a threedecade long chain of people introduced to the underwater world , many of whom have themselves gone on to become instructors . This is BSAC ’ s constantly unfolding legacy , and it has created a unique social network across the UK , in addition to our overseas branches .
