St Kilda is a must-visit destination on a number of fronts . The diving is enticing , as you will see on these pages I hope , but it also offers delights above water , to nature lovers and history buffs . It ’ s the only spot in the UK that has earned dual UNESCO world heritage status , for both natural and cultural significance - and there are only 39 of those in the world . It ’ s also an SSSI ( Site of Special Scientific Interest ), and a Designated Special Area of Conservation . What could possibly justify all these designations ?
