DM Scuba
The needs of four different Ocean Diver trainees are met by a team of instructors from the Bristol area
Bristol-based BSAC Training Centre DM Scuba ran an Ocean Diver course at Vobster Quay for four new club members arriving from different places . Joining DM Scuba ’ s teaching team for the occasion were established BSAC instructors from different clubs , led by the Centre ’ s owner , Paul Dowding .
Nigel Lewin came to DM Scuba from Bristol Aerospace Sub-Aqua Club , having already completed his pool and theory with the club . He then used the BSAC Branch + Centres Partnership Scheme , completing his Open Water dives with DM Scuba . Nigel said he had a great weekend , describing the approach to Ocean Diver training from the team at DM Scuba as “ excellent ”. He felt his confidence increasing over the weekend , in addition to learning important new skills and receiving positive advice .
Luke Titcombe came from Swindon Sub-Aqua Club and carried out the entire course with DM Scuba . He described the event as a seamless transition from the club to centre training . “ Nothing felt rushed ,” Luke said . “ Paul Dowding and his team were extremely thorough and knowledgeable ; they worked very well with all of the students ’ different abilities .”
Laura Evans and Callum Holdom came to DM Scuba directly . Laura is off to university and will join her university club , while Callum will now be able to join his father diving on holiday , before looking to join a club next year .
The two local club instructors who assisted were Sophie Browne ( Diving Officer for Cirencester Dolphins ) and ex-military club instructor Steve Thorogood . Both regularly assist in the training of BSAC divers . It is a true mix of clubs , instructors and a BSAC Centre coming together to achieve one goal , that is assisting new divers achieve BSAC Ocean Diver certification . �

Branch + Centre Partnership Scheme explained
Designed to support branches with their training , the model is that new members join your branch , train at the centre , then return to your branch as qualified divers .
