UKDIVING
Young colonies of pink sea fans are dotted about the site whilst the adjacent reef is home to mixed sea squirts including the enormous Neptune ’ s heart .
Just north of the reef are ridges of maerl which support gravel sea cucumbers and Europe ’ s smallest marine fish at just 17mm long , the Guillet ’ s goby .
Europe ’ s smallest marine fish , Guillet ’ s goby ( Lebetus guilleti ).
Keep discovering
Finding a new wreck is something many divers dream of . Needless to say , John is head over heels with his find and the story that has unfolded .
This project needed skills in position fixing , historical and technical research , marine biology , photogrammetry , photography and videography . The British Sub Aqua Jubilee Trust supported the diving with a small grant . These grants can be applied for by BSAC divers and branches wanting support for their own projects . bsac . com / applyforbsajt

Look but don ’ t touch

The Protection of Military Remains Act 1986 applies to any aircraft which has crashed whilst in military service , whether personnel were killed or not . All crash sites are automatically ‘ protected places ’ with some designated as a ‘ controlled site ’. A licence is required to dive on a controlled site . The Bf110 wreck is not a controlled site and all our activities were on a ‘ look but don ’ t touch ’ basis . We informed ‘ RAF Air Historical Branch ’ of the wreck ’ s whereabouts . The Nautical Archaeological Society was also informed ; this project conformed to its guidelines .
