DIVING IN DUNOON
HI EVERYONE , WE ARE JASON AND CLAIRE AND TOGETHER WE run Wreckspeditions Dive Charters based in Dunoon on the Clyde .
We are both BSAC instructors with an absolute passion for diving and being on the water . We are also active members of BSAC branches and for a combined 20 years have been organising dive trips all over the world !
One day we had a conversation about what it would be like to run our own diving company and after a while we decided to bite the bullet and go for it . We combined our love for wreck and expedition diving and before we knew it , Wreckspeditions was born . Our vessel , the Starfish Enterprise was acquired and now it was time to find her a new home !
Moving to Dunoon wasn ’ t a difficult choice . The stunning Clyde coastline , flanked by a backdrop of mountains in every direction is close to some incredible islands with easy access to the entire southwest of Scotland . And let ’ s not forget the amazing maritime history , once Britain ’ s busiest waterway and home to the most important shipbuilding yards in the world .
The Clyde has several options for visiting divers , including numerous shipwrecks of varying depths and some awesome scenic dives ( with seals !) that would not look out of place in St Abb ’ s .
■ All year-round diving
■ Over 20 shipwrecks and 50 scenic sites accessible within a 30min steam ranging from 5-70m depths
■ Glorious sheltered sea loch sites diveable at all states of the tide

However , It was always our intention to explore new and exciting areas , so it didn ’ t take us long to move around and organise expeditions to the Kyles of Bute , Arran , Mull of Kintyre and Ailsa Craig to name a few . They have all proved very popular with some incredible diving conditions near Campbeltown and to the south of Arran . The benefit of diving in these areas is the incredibly clear waters which go with the vibrant colours as the clear Atlantic tide floods in giving in excess of 20m visibility at times .
Wreckspeditions have recently become Scotland ’ s only BSAC Seamanship Centre and the destination of choice for BSAC to run courses such as Advanced Instructor , National Instructor , First Class Diver and more . We also helped set up Dunoon Divers as one of the newest BSAC Clubs in the UK , with pool access and a smorgasbord of open water training possibilities .
We have only scratched the surface but we truly believe that # divingindunoon will keep on growing and that this beautiful part of the world can be a new haven for the diving faithful .
