What type of diving goes down best ?
We all like a good wreck . Most of the wrecks on the South Coast look more like underwater scrapyards rather than ships , so we are really looking at the wildlife such as the congers in the boilers . These often make for good photo opportunities . When slack water is not available , drift dives are a fun way to watch the world go by at a great rate of knots .
What training do you offer ?
The most popular training is the Ocean Diver Course , but we offer training at all diver grades . We tend to start new Ocean Diver trainees between January and February , aiming to get them to open water as temperatures begin to improve . We start them in buddy pairs as they contact us . We try to run lectures with the trainees together so they meet and interact . Our last batch of OD and SD lectures were all via Zoom , and were recorded so the trainees can use the recordings for revision . In 2022 , we plan to try out the new e-learning system that BSAC has launched , alongside our traditional theory training .
Where do you go for open-water training ?
We do our first open-water training sessions locally at Wraysbury Dive Centre , then we usually take trainees to Vobster Quay to complete their training in a bit more depth . We then encourage them to come diving on suitable trips to the sea to hone their skills and gain confidence .
