Kinlochbervie we were hooked ,” they told me , “ it is the best diving we ’ ve seen in Scotland .” Dive KLB was born five years ago as this became their diving home ( they hail from the Moray coast , which is why Dive KLB was formally , and confusingly , known as North East Dive ). Their boat Keltic Lady is a 10.5 m , with lift , on-board compressor , heated cabin , and is coded for 12 and two crew , but is run with a maximum of 10 divers . The village has a hotel , there are campsites ( including hook-ups for campervans ) and Dive KLB have a spacious self-catering guesthouse , with five twin rooms .
Of course , there ’ s nothing new about the far north west of Scotland . Actually , from a geological perspective this is the oldest part of the UK by quite a stretch . The impervious rocks that dominate this rugged landscape are truly ancient . Geological timescales can be mindbending , but it gives some perspective to consider that these rocks are 46 times older than T . rex . Diving here is long
established too , the area is lauded by locals and dayboats ; liveaboards pass through periodically , but the location really became accessible to all with the arrival of Dive KLB and a permanent hard boat in the port of Kinlochbervie .
