The development and updating of technical courses is a rigorous process , as the updates draw on the latest safety advice , equipment and developments from a wide range of experts in technical diving within and outside of BSAC . The courses are also developed in conjunction with International Standards and Rebreather Manufacturer Training requirements .

The first course revisions to be launched will be the Closed Circuit Rebreather ( CCR ) Mod 1 Course , which replaces the current BSAC CCR Air Diluent Course and the new BSAC CCR Mod 1 Top Up Course . BSAC CCR Mod 1 is the entry level course for CCR Diving within the organisation .
The revised Mod 1 course offers students the option of a 45m CCR Trimix qualification . The Mod 1 Top Up Course credits BSAC CCR Air Diluent divers for their existing qualification and allows a fast track covering the relevant training to gain a 45m Trimix CCR qualification . The new courses have taken into account the upcoming ISO ( International Standards Organisation ) 24632:2020 standards “ Recreational Services – Requirements for Rebreather Training – Decompression to 45m ” allowing students to reach an Internationally recognised training standard .
The updated courses offer a new level of flexibility in training , and incorporate the new BSAC Gas Density tables into BSAC Technical Training . Both new courses continue to be run by Approved BSAC Technical Instructors who have successfully completed a Technical Instructor Trainer Workshop and completed a Technical Instructor Assessment under the supervision of a Technical Instructor Trainer .
