Mark Paisey meets the first Ocean Divers to graduate from BSAC Egypt
India and Chloe Walker are the first Ocean Diver trainees for BSAC Egypt , our franchise partner in Hurghada . New to diving , they wanted to learn at an establishment that teaches diving responsibly and ethically , with respect for the environment . Both say there are clear advantages to learning in the Red Sea , as the visibility is fantastic , the weather is warm and the biodiversity is present . Overall , they had an amazing experience .
Asked about the learning journey India said : “ We were taken care of right through the process . BSAC Egypt was always at the end of the phone to answer questions , and on arrival , we were given a local SIM card to use to stay in contact . The apartments were very quiet , which was ideal after a day ’ s diving .
“ Meeting Mariam Boraie , our instructor , was also an amazing experience . She was an excellent instructor and became our friend . The training was fun and safe , progressing from the pool to the beach to the boats . She even took us out in the evenings to local restaurants . We became part of her local ‘ diving family ’.
“ The day boats were amazing , full of happy people that looked after us and made sure we had fun . We saw barracuda , lionfish , nudibranchs , tuna , dolphins , wrecks and reefs . The dive centre was well organised , positioned on the beach and all the staff were enthusiastic and friendly .
“ We would urge anyone wanting to learn scuba diving not to hesitate – find a friend and go . The best thing is being out on the boats all day ; it ’ s an adventurous trip , you get to see amazing stuff underwater and you won ’ t be lying on the beach feeling bored .”
