Diving was held under Covid restrictions , which meant that we could have no more than six people diving together , but at that time household bubbles counted as one person . This particularly came in handy if you needed help from your partner to kit up , or stand up after realising your cylinder and weight belt felt a lot heavier than you remembered .
The dive was advertised on our club Facebook page , and details were emailed out to all members . After collating a list of keen divers raring to go , I contacted them with the BSAC protocols for Covid safety , asking divers to socially distance ; stay in their buddy pairs ; use a mask and hand gel when donning their suit ; standing up-wind
and side-on when zipping their buddy ’ drysuit , and cleaning their masks without spitting .
Many would think that diving the same site repeatedly would be dull , but the advantage with a local site is the more you dive the site the more you find ! I also enjoyed seeing how the wildlife present on the site varied throughout the seasons , and I started to record when particular animals were more numerous . Our novice club members had a chance to practise and improve their skills . Diving with more experienced members , many gained confidence , and began organising their own dives with buddies at the site . It was all was great to see !
