Hanging Around

Drysuit / Regulator Hanger
COMPANY : BEAVER SPORTS TEL : 01484 512354 PRICE : £ 13.25 WEB : WWW . BEAVERSPORTS . CO . UK

Hopefully you ’ re never in the position where you need to dry out the inside of a soaking-wet drysuit , but there may be times when you have slight water ingress or even just a mild amount of condensation you ’ d like to take care of before your next dive .

The best way to do this is to hang your suit upside-down and Beaver ’ s Drysuit &
Regulator Hanger is a simple and inexpensive aide to doing so . Alternatively , it ’ s the perfect means to store it away during the offseason . Manufactured from a very robust plastic material , the hanger has two slots designed to accommodate the boots of your suit . Simply slide them in and the substantial-looking hook will take the strain , wherever you choose to suspend it .
At one end of the hanger is a threaded attachment to which it ’ s possible to screw in a DIN first stage . Either let it all hang out , or route your hoses along the moulded clips situated on the outside edge . If your first stage is of the A-clamp variety , then these clips will do a sterling job for it too . NH

Mack the Knife

Multi-Purpose Scissor Knife
COMPANY : NORTHERN DIVER TEL : 01257 254444 PRICE : £ 47 WEB : WWW . NDIVER . COM

The perceived wisdom among divers is that shears are a far superior option for dealing with entanglement in fishing line or monofilament net . However , the sharp and serrated edges of a traditional diver ' s knife are much more adept at cutting through thicker rope . Combining the two features in one cutting tool , Northern Diver ' s

Multi-Purpose Scissor Knife provides the best of both worlds in a compact , but highly effective device . It isn ' t the first of its type I ' ve come across but it ' s certainly one of the smallest . Just 17.5cm tall , this chrome-plated , stainless steel cutter has a rigid high-impact plastic handle and a pointed 8cm blade . This is serrated on one side , while on the other has a sharp , smooth blade with an integrated line-cutting notch . A stainless steel retainer at the base of the handle flicks open to convert the knife into a scissor-like cutter . This , I found out was more than capable of chomping its way through various examples of rope , up to 20mm in diameter , in a single judicious snip .
The knife is supplied in a rigid quickrelease sheath , which can be mounted using the Velcro straps , to a BC with grommets ; or even to a hose , via the supplied fitting kits . NH
SCUBA SAYS
Northern Diver ’ s Scissor Knife is small enough to remain unobtrusive when not in use , but more than capable of doing its job when called into action .
