All the twos

WE HAD TWO INTERESTING MEMBER trips running in April. A newly qualified Ocean Diver and Sports Diver trip to Oban was led by Darren Banner, one of our many Open Water Instructors. This was with Etive Boat Charters. Our other trip was to In Deep Dive Centre of Plymouth, led by myself, for our more experienced divers. We had six Open Water Instructors on that trip. It was noted that on our Plymouth trip we had a three-person buddy group made up of our older members. How many older members do clubs have still actively diving? The combined ages of our senior threesome was 222. GREG ROUND, Stafford SAC
Pictured( l-r) on the Plymouth trip are Robin Smith, 76, Dave Kennedy, 79, and Steve Postles, 67

Angels for Blue Coats

OVER THE EASTER HOLIDAY, 10 STUDENTS FROM THE Reading Blue Coat School’ s diving club travelled to Lanzarote to finish off their Ocean Diver qualification with Safari Diving, having completed the theory and pool lessons in school beforehand. Postqualifying, three days were spent on guided dives on local reefs and wrecks. The highlight of the trip was the night dive, where students saw a free-swimming angel shark illuminated by torch beam. JAMES HICKMAN, READING BLUE COAT SCHOOL

Legends of Harrogate

ONE OF OUR HONORARY MEMBERS AT HARROGATE BSAC, Jill Myers, turned 100 on the 8 May this year. She joined the club more than 50 years ago and was a key member for many years, as she was on BSAC Council for many years as well. The second picture is with our President, Ken Crow, who is also in his 90s and like Jill was an early BSAC member, FCD / NI and still attends the club now. Jill did a lot for not only the BSAC as a whole but Harrogate BSAC as well. Andy Warren, Dive Officer, Harrogate BSAC
