While the backplate and wing buoyancy system originally stemmed from cave and technical diving disciplines , there ’ s no denying that the popularity of this setup has seen it enter the mainstream . While purists may disagree , you don ’ t actually have to be pushing the boundaries of depth and duration to enjoy this simple , effective and comfortable configuration . Of course , many recreational divers have embraced that desirable ‘ tekkie ’ look . Scubapro ’ s S-Tek Pro System doesn ’ t just have the style , it also has many years of development and innovation behind it . If you ’ re diving to extremes then you can , rest assured also rely on it to do the business in the harshest of conditions . The S-Tek Pro consists of a 3D-formed , 316 stainless steel backplate paired with a choice from three doughnut-style wings of differing buoyancy capacities . The smallest , providing lift of 30lb is intended for singlecylinder diving only . The largest , at 60lb is designed for twinsets , while the versatile 40lb wing can be used with twins or singles with an optional adapter . Cordura inner bladder is protected by an outer 1000D Cordura shell . A plastic YKK zipper allows easy access to the former if required .
The material itself is ‘ dope-dyed ’ black , a more environmentally-friendly process which is also less likely to fade over time than the more usual post-dying treatment . All seams are stitched for extra strength and the classy-looking logos embroidered .
There are two low-profile dump valves . One is situated at the lower left with a chunky and easily accessible pull handle , while the other attaches to the wide bore elliptical corrugated hose . This is routed nicely over the shoulder through a webbing epaulet and
