WITH THE TIMINGS OF THE ACADEMIC year , the earliest we can get trainee Ocean Divers into open water is the end of November , a time of year where the water is usually still reasonably warm ( about 10 °) but the weather can be a bit nippy . The 2021 trip also coincided with Storm Arwen , which would play a major part in the weekend ’ s activities .

Steve Backshall gets in a flap

WE HAD A BUSY DAY RECENTLY FILMING some scenes for a marine documentary presented by Steve Backshall . Coastal ecologist Lauren Smith and I got to chat with Steve about flapper skate and enjoyed a couple of dives with the team as well .
