At the height of the COVID pandemic , I decided to take a giant stride and fly across to the other side of the world to a country called Papua New Guinea , for a new job . Why choose PNG , you may ask ? To put it in short – work dive balance .
While often characterised as a tropical paradise , PNG is not an easy place . The infrastructure and healthcare is limited , and due to social unrest large areas around the capital , Port Moresby are considered unsafe , to the extent that expat communities tend to live in compounds . Outside the cities , there may be violent confrontations between different tribes , some of whom speak different languages due to the nature of the terrain , which
