HOW In summer, from March to October, Lundy’s own supply ship and ferry, the MS Oldenburg departs several times a week from either Bideford or Ilfracombe in north Devon. Or you can travel over with a dive operator or bring your own dive club rib. In winter, from November to March, a helicopter service operates between Lundy and Hartland Point in north Devon on Mondays and Fridays. STAY/DIVE There is a surprisingly large variety of options, from field camping to a spot of luxury at Millcombe House, a Georgian rectory with stunning views down a wooded valley and out to sea. Another interesting option is Old Light Cottage standing on the highest point of the Island, Beacon Hill, 142 metres above sea level. If you don’t want to self-cater head to The Marisco Tavern serving a great selection of food.
