The pier’s pillars create incredibly photogenic, living works of art encrusted with colourful sponges and corals. Some really atmospheric wide-angle shots can be achieved here. Large schools of fish drift in and out of the shadows created by the pier overhead. For macro fans there are juvenile drumfish and seahorses, along with snake eels and other juveniles using the pier structure as a protective nursery. 05 Salt Pier legs encrusted with colourful sponges and corals Captain Don’s House Reef This is one of the best house reefs on the island. A guide rope set from the jetty right down the reef to 20-plus metres leads divers home at the end of a dive. There is a tiny rowing boat wreck with egg-laying damselfish, many vivid reef fish, flamingo tongue snails, sponges and corals and all manner of creatures big and small. Magnificent, silver armoured tarpon are found in the shallows at dusk.
