The first BSAC Diving Conference since 2019 was hosted by underwater explorer Andy Torbet . He welcomed members from 250 branches alongside representatives from BSAC Japan and BSAC Korea . First came a short video saying a big thank you to all the BSAC volunteers out there , then a shout out for BSAC ’ s Strategic Plan for 2025-2029 , asking for feedback . Diving and training update
Next came National Diving Officer , Sophie Rennie , and Head of Diver and Training Sophie Heptonstall . NDO Sophie explained that her first five months had been busy with the launch of the role of Snorkel Guide ( more later ), and formalising participation in various environmental initiatives . BSAC is now a member of the Clean Water Sports Alliance ; Operation Oyster and Project Seagrass are making their mark on the health of UK seas , and work continues with the Marine Conservation Society on underwater litter picks . This year ’ s delegate pack came in an marine litter pick bag , sponsored by Scubapro . The focus will now be reviews of training courses and exams , including instructor training development and Advanced Diver , she said .
