SCUBACHAT

United in Oman

IN A FANTASTIC DISPLAY OF collaboration and shared passion for the underwater world , Doha Sub Aqua Club ( DSAC ) in Qatar and Ras Al Hamra Sub Aqua Club ( RAHSAC ) in Oman recently united for an incredible dive weekend .
DSAC members ventured to Oman to experience the renowned beauty of Omani waters , joining forces with their RAHSAC counterparts . The highlight of the trip was an unforgettable journey aboard the RAHSAC club boat to the famed Fahal Island , just one of the many diverse dive sites Oman has to offer alongside the spectacular Daymananiyat Islands , plus Bandar Khairan . Divers were treated to excellent visibility and a thriving marine ecosystem , encountering a diverse array of fish species , fascinating marine life , and even graceful turtles gliding through the depths .
This collaborative dive trip not only provided breath-taking underwater experiences but also underscored the strong bonds of friendship and shared knowledge within the diving community . Both DSAC and RAHSAC are active BSAC clubs with rich histories , boasting 47 and 42 years respectively of promoting diving and marine conservation in the Middle East . Furthermore , both clubs are proud recipients of the Heinke Trophy , a prestigious award recognizing their commitment to diving excellence and safety , with RAHSAC receiving the honour in 2022 .
This successful collaboration serves as a testament to the power of shared experiences and the importance of fostering connections between diving enthusiasts across borders . We look forward to future collaborations and adventures as we continue to explore and protect our precious marine environments . DSAC would like to extend a big thank you to RAHSAC ’ s Chair , Fiona Lemaire , and club members for their warm welcome and to the DSAC Chair , Naaman Al Busaidy , for coordinating this fantastic trip . Explorer ’ s club

IN SEPTEMBER , SEVEN MEMBERS OF Rhondda Sub Aqua Club spent the week on Ghazala Explorer in the Red Sea . We chose the Northern Wrecks and Reefs itinerary and booked our trip through Scuba Travel , taking advantage of the discount available to BSAC members . We had a fabulous week completing 21 dives , including four on the iconic Thistlegorm , as well as many more on the wrecks of
26 the Giannis D , Carnatic , Chrisoula K , Ulysses and the Barge .
Classic Red Sea reef dives were completed on Thomas , Jackson and Shark Reefs , to name but a few . The end of our last dive of the week at Sha ’ ab El Erg saw dolphins come to visit - what an end to a phenomenal week of diving .
The old adage ‘ dive , eat , sleep , repeat ’ was our mantra for the week and it ’ s pretty much all that we did while on board . We lived our lives by the bell - if it rang and your hair was dry it was time for a dive briefing and if it rang while your hair was wet it was time to eat ! The crew and our dive guides Ahmed , Mousa and Bebo were all exceptional . The food was tasty and plentiful and some of us even managed to put on some weight during the week - even with 21 dives done !
We all had a fabulous week and are already in the process of booking another club trip on Ghazala Explorer through Scuba Travel . ALLISON CARTER , Rhondda Sub Aqua Club
