In only its second year , the NW Dive Fest has already grown with more attendees , big brands and try dives galore . BSAC ’ s Pat Holliday reports

YOU ’ VE PROBABLY NOTICED THE 71ST anniversary of BSAC went unmarked , unlike 2023 ’ s Platinum celebrations , which included a boat run up the Thames and an anniversary get-together of members and clubs at Capernwray Dive Centre in Lancashire . The latter was such a success that Stephen Dorricott , BSAC ’ s North West Regional Coach , and his team decided to make it an annual event .
For 2024 , the now renamed NW Dive Fest promised to be bigger , bolder , better , and , well BSAC-ier than before – and it was . On the 27 September , 170 divers representing
62 dive clubs from as far afield as Aberdeen , Bedford and Weymouth made the pilgrimage to the popular inland dive site .
Divers heading into the water geared up in the shadow of two eye-catching gazebos in constant use for Try Tech events . Interest in diving with rebreathers shows no sign of slowing , with pre-booked sessions available for either AP Vision or Divesoft Liberty units .
Also , back by demand were underwater scooter ( DPV ) sessions put on by Dive Manchester . There was also training taking place , thanks to Yorkshire Regional Coach Carrie Pillow who was running a

Milestone club anniversaries were celebrated
