The Seacraft GO ! is the most expensive piece of kit in Test Centre ’ s Gift Guide , so if this one ’ s on the list to Santa Claus you ’ d better hope you ’ ve been a good boy or girl for the last year !
Naturally , you get what you pay for – and this high-tech , high spec DPV ( Diver Propulsion Vehicle ) is a highspec piece of kit for serious divers . The smaller sibling of the company ’ s Future model , the sub-10kg and compact ( 520mm x 280mm ) version is a mini marvel .
Its patented magnetic propulsion technology eliminates the need for a conventional drive shaft and gear transmission , has a top speed of 1.35m / sec and a maximum thrust of 260N .
Although rated to maximum depth of 130m , it has even been tested to 200m and flies along with little more than a low hum .
For travelling , the GO ! utilises six individual Li-Ion battery segments . These are approved by the IATA ( International Air Transport Association ) and can be removed then carried as hand luggage on a plane .
Other than the above , or for ballast adjustment , there ’ s no reason to otherwise open the unit , as charging is carried out via an external port . Situated on top of the rear cowling are two thumb-operated control triggers and a LED display which displays data on settings , battery power and mode .
There are three selectable modes : Recreational , Expert and Freediving , nine forward gears plus reverse . Action camera mounts are provided on both the control and the multipurpose bracket located on the nose of the scooter . This handy removable attachment can also be used for lights or other accessories .
