platforms and checking the stability of the submerged structures and buildings . We participate in the River Ouse Rinse organised with Buckingham Town Council , clearing out the river of debris and rubbish usually with a team of six to 10 divers .
The divers collect the rubbish and hand it to another volunteer group on the bank , then the council collects it and transports it to a skip . It is great to see that the volume of rubbish has steadily reduced over the years . We often find quirky items , for instance a burglar ’ s kit which was handed to the police , a vintage Enamel sign and a collection of old perfume bottles , which were donated to Buckingham Museum . records easily available to them . It also means we have access to next of kin contact details , wherever we are in the world .
In Stowe Sub-Aqua we like to think we embrace that BSAC spirit throughout . As one parent recently said to us : “ The club ’ s
biggest strength is its ‘ family ’ feeling . As someone new to the club and the parent of a young diver , it ’ s really obvious how caring and committed all the instructors are and how easy you make it for people to learn . That ’ s why we come diving with this club .” �
Anything else you ’ d like to tell SCUBA ’ s readers about ?
At the start of 2020 , we moved all our records online using Salesforce . com not-for-profit licensing . As a club we were great at collecting paperwork ( dive logs , equipment lists , training records , and more ), although not as proficient at sharing it . The move to the Salesforce system has allowed us to have instant access to all training records , along with recording all our dive logs , equipment and membership details .
While it took a couple of members a month to complete , it is very scalable for clubs to use . It didn ’ t cost us anything except time , and makes an individual ’ s
