Richard Condlyffe joins the Bahamas Aggressor II liveaboard on an itinerary promising a classic Caribbean experience, replete with reefs, wrecks and fish

When divers think about the Caribbean, the visions that spring to mind are turquoise waters, coral reefs and tropical sunsets. And no destination is more quintessentially Caribbean than the Bahamas. With these thoughts in mind, I flew to Nassau to join the Bahamas Aggressor II liveaboard for a week-long itinerary in the central Bahamas, focusing on the Exumas and Eleuthera.

The Exumas comprises a series of cays stretching northwest to southeast for more than 100 miles, much of it protected as the world’ s first‘ Land and Sea Park’. Since 1996, this designation has included an extensive no-take zone. It all contributes to a wonderful feeling of remoteness both in and out of the water. Eleuthera, situated east of Nassau, is a narrow island that borders the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean; a location that defines the diving to be found there.
