Welcome
Technically speaking, spring has sprung. I’ ve seen the first daffs, we’ ve had the dive show and eggs will be rolling down hills by the time this magazine hits your doorsteps. So can we finally have some good weather please... anything that will allow us to suit up and sally forth to our favourite places? We’ d be ever so grateful.
Whatever’ s going on in the world [ too big a subject for this page, you’ ll be relieved to hear ], there’ s a certain comfort in the permanence of good things, and naturally that means diving.
Diving has improved and enhanced our lives in so many ways. It gives us enhanced skill sets and confidence that carries over into our professional and personal lives. It allows us to experience the world in a way few other people get to witness. It introduces us to life-long friends in whose company we delight, the bedrock of club life.
All of this is a preamble to The Point of my page this month. I’ d like you all to consider entering SCUBA’ s latest competition‘ A Dive to Remember’. It’ s all explained on page 38, including a humble example focussing on one of my own favourite dives. It’ s just to give you an idea of what we’ re trying to do; I’ m not trying to run off with the prize!
Ah yes, the prize. Those heroes at O’ Three have stepped up to offer a 90Ninety trilaminate drysuit as the star prize. A proper UK diving prize for a proper UK diving competition.
Please do have a read of the whole section, which includes plenty of detail on how to enter. This is a writing competition, but it’ s not about great poetry or prose. We also welcome photos, but you won’ t be judged on them. It’ s about enthusiasm and love for our world, our diving, and the amazing places we visit. And getting your love of these special places onto the pages of this magazine, a snapshot of the way we dive in 2025.
I can’ t wait to read your entries.
