This friendly island is the best place in the world to dive with oceanic thresher sharks . The deep dwelling sharks ascend in the early morning to visit cleaning stations on the Monad Shoal , before returning to their abyssal comfort zone ; so there ’ s a brief period in which to experience their intricate symbiosis with the half-moon wrasse . There ’ s nothing like it in the world .
Yet Malapascua offers so much more than sharks . Together with tour operator Dive Worldwide and award-winning dive centre Thresher Shark Divers , we ’ ve come up with an itinerary that encompasses muck dives , coral gardens , seagrass meadows , seamounts and vertical walls . It ’ s this variety of habitat that offers so many different experiences in a relatively small area , and that ’ s what this trip is all about ... variety and value . The trip is suitable for anyone qualified and comfortable diving to 30m , though most dives will be shallower .
This is an escorted trip led by photojournalist Simon Rogerson , who will be on hand to troubleshoot , present a series of informal talks and advise on photographic issues . While it isn ’ t a pure photography trip , Simon will be available to help with workshops and individual tuition as required . By the end of the schedule , the aim is to amass a portfolio of images documenting the trip and your dives , which will be made available to all guests .
The trip departs London Heathrow at 9.25am on 2nd June 2022 , flying to Cebu via Singapore Changi Airport . The Malapascua Dive Adventure includes 20 dives over seven days , giving the group plenty of time to discover the diversity of this area . Your home for eight nights will be the Tepanee Beach Resort , with its own private beach and choice of restaurants .
‘ Malapascua Dive Adventure ’ is priced from £ 2,345 , including flights , accommodation and diving . Package includes international flights from the UK ; eight nights at Tepanee Beach Resort , incl breakfast ; 20 dives including one night dive ; cylinders and weights ; two full day trips with lunch ; Marine Park fees ( at PHP400 per day ); road and boat transfers to Malapascua .
