Training in Sharm a desert crossover

FOUR MORE RED SEA INSTRUCTORS have crossed over to BSAC , following a recent event at BSAC Training Centre , Elite Diving .
With Egyptian dive tourism opening up again across all the Red Sea resorts , the Instructor Crossover course at Elite Diving saw BSAC continuing to strengthen its presence in the region . And for BSAC clubs and members , this means more opportunities to train and dive in one of the world ’ s most popular diving locations .
BSAC National Instructor Fran Hockley led the Instructor Crossover training at Sharm-el-Sheikh based Elite Diving , which saw four of the centre ’ s instructor team qualify as BSAC Open Water Instructors .
Elite Diving ’ s Alun Evans said the crossover event was a huge success , and he was now looking forward to welcoming even more BSAC divers to the Sharm resort .
“ With the direct flights coming again , we have already seen a big upturn in
BSAC clubs booking to dive with us .
“ There are so many new divers that have never been to Sharm , and it ’ s the ideal place for them to come to gain further experience in warm , clear water with so much to see . We now have more BSAC qualified instructors to assist branch instructors if they want to bring their members to Sharm to complete their open water dives .”

Support for Twin-set Instructors

BSAC HAS RELEASED THE TWIN-SET Instructor Workshop ( TIW ), specifically created to make progressing to a Twin-set Instructor much more accessible .
The one-day ‘ streamlined ’ workshop aims to get more instructors actively teaching the BSAC Twin-set Diver course within their club or the regions . The new workshop will be led by experienced Instructor Trainers ( ITs ) and is intended as an alternative to the current route which requires instructors to assist twice on Twin-set Diver courses .
One-day pilots of the workshop have already been held , attracting positive feedback from all the participants . As a result , the Twin-set Instructor Workshop is now live on BSAC ’ s centrally coordinated Programme of Events .
BSAC ’ s Head of Diving and Training , Dom Robinson , said the one-day workshop was a positive step forward to making the route to a Twin-set Instructor more efficient and accessible .
“ Learning to dive with a twin-set is an aspiration for many BSAC divers so we need to provide a better route for experienced twin-set divers to pass on their knowledge . With this Instructor Trainer-led workshop , we will increase the number of high-quality Twinset Instructors able to teach within BSAC ’ s club network and bring on the next wave of BSAC Twin-set Divers ,” he added .
To attend the new one-day Twin-set Instructor Workshop , divers must be a BSAC Open Water Instructor ( or other agency equivalent ) and hold the BSAC Twin-set Diver ( or equivalent ) qualification .
Once approved , instructors can teach the BSAC Twin-set Diver course – bsac . com / twinset - using the same kit configuration as their students .
