Instructor Foundation Course
LOOKING TO TAKE THAT FIRST STEP into instructing in 2026? Then BSAC’ s Instructor Foundation Course( IFC) is the place to start.
Sports Divers and Dive Leaders( or equivalent) and above can now book one of the available spaces on this year’ s IFC courses being held around the country. Providing you with the foundations
needed to teach others to dive within your club, the IFC is the first step on the journey to becoming an Open Water Instructor.
Held over one day, following some pre-eLearning, the IFC is friendly, fun and confidence-building, designed to introduce you to the core skills of delivering safe, engaging training. You’ ll learn how to teach
both theory and practical sessions and become part of BSAC’ s fantastic instructor community. Once completed, you will be able to support your club as an Assistant Instructor and also choose to continue your training towards becoming an Open Water Instructor.
Even if you’ re not sure you want to become an instructor yet, the IFC is a brilliant course for improving your own diving, leadership and communication skills.
Find and book an IFC
To find an IFC near you and book online, all you need to do is login to your MyBSAC and search for Instructor Foundation Course in the‘ Courses’ tab. You will then be able to view dates and locations that are convenient to you. Any queries regarding making your booking, please contact Jenny at BSAC HQ bookings @ bsac. com
