Looking to share a hard boat?

A SOUTH WEST BSAC CLUB IS LOOKING for a new home for its hard boat so that they can ensure it remains within the diving community.
Wellington and Taunton SAC( WATSAC) have been the proud owners of‘ Dunribbin’ for the past 29 years. However, with rising running costs, including mooring fees and insurance, and a reduced membership making its ownership of a hard boat financially unviable, WATSAC has made the difficult decision to‘ move Dunribbin on’.
Having enjoyed the benefits of diving from a hard boat, the club is now keen for Dubribbin to remain a diving platform and are looking for another club or clubs to
West Regional events for 2025, Skill Development Courses, the role of the DO, the support available from HQ and the region. The get-together also gave DOs the chance to meet both the Technical Instructor team and the Seamanship Instructor team.
Sophie Heptonstall thanked Stephen for getting the clubs together.
“ The workshop gave an ideal opportunity for Stephen to update on regional events scheduled for 2025, BSAC to update on current projects and crucially the opportunity for the clubs to feedback and discuss how to grow diving and snorkelling activities and share ideas. It was a really collaborative event.”
consider coming onboard. An Offshore 105 from Port Issac Work Boats, Dunribbin can accommodate 10-12 divers. The boat is fitted with an extended wheelhouse as well as a small galley and an onboard toilet. It has an inboard diesel engine, a 350Hp Volvo Penta with twin stainless fuel tanks.
Club Secretary Lynda Rose said WATSAC was open to discussing options with any interested clubs.
“ Sadly, the time has come for WATSAC to make some tough decisions,” she explained.“ We would prefer to keep the boat in the diving community, if at all possible, and would be happy to negotiate terms with any club merging with us or who wishes to acquire this valuable asset.”
Dunribbin is currently moored at Plymouth Yacht Haven Marina, Mountbatten, in Plymouth.
