Thumbelina Play Script Characters : Narrator, Thumbelina, Toad, Fish, Butterfly, Beetle, Fieldmouse, Mole, Swallow Scene 1 Narrator: Beetle: Narrator: (outdoors) Long ago, there was a beautiful, tiny girl called Thumbelina. Thumbelina: I like singing songs. La, la, la, ... Narrator: I am taking you to my friends. They’ll like you. But the beetle’s friends thought she was ugly, so he left her on a daisy. Beetle: Good bye now. My friends don’t like you. Narrator: All summer, she listened happily to the birds singing sweetly, but winter soon came along. One night a toad stole her away Thumbelina: (crying) What are you doing? Where are you taking me? Thumbelina: It’s getting colder. I need to find somewhere warm to stay. Thumbelina: (crying) Oh no ... not again! Narrator: Thumbelina: (smiling) Thank you, Fish! Narrator: When Thumbelina floated away, a beautiful butterfly came by. Butterfly: Hello, Thumbelina. (underground) The fieldmouse took Thumbelina underground to meet the mole. Fieldmouse: Hi, Mole. This is Thumbelina and she is going to marry you. Mole: She is beautiful. Thank you, Fieldmouse.
