Just looking around at the weather lately. When it is safe to put your winter clothes away, it snows in Denver CO, in mid-May. At the same time in Phoenix, AZ, air conditioners are off and the windows are open. It seems the seasons have gotten mixed-up. Life can seem like that at times.
Sarah found her own seasons life very much messed up. When she was young and had the energy to chase after a child she could not get pregnant. When she is in her 90's, given in to the fact that she couldn't have kids, she was ready to sit on the front porch in a rocking chair with Abraham, when she finds herself having a child. Talk about the seasons of your life being backwards. It didn't stop her though once the long waited for baby was born she had the joy she so long desired to have. She loved Issac and sought to protect him.
I have a friend that has found herself in Sarah's shoes. OK, she is a lot younger than Sarah. She and her husband should be looking at kids graduating high school instead this year they became first time parents of two sisters, 12 and 10 years old. My friend was watching the weekly adoption story of children waiting to be adopted, when the two sisters' story came on. She knew they were meant to be their daughters. Instantly, she called her husband and told him she just saw their girls on TV. It is rare for older kids to be adopted.
As they were going through the process there were times my friend wondered what was she doing at becoming a parent at this point in her life. She stayed faithful to the belief that God was going to make them parents once this ordeal was over.
She had so much love for the girls that it just seemed natural they were their daughters. One of the things the girls had to adjust to was they didn't have to worry about being taken away or moved to another family. They had found their forever home and parents that loved them very much.
I will share in her own words how she felt, “Since I have been thrown for a loop with children at my older age and so quickly, I do feel more hard on myself with them. I'm constantly judging myself and second guessing my decisions. But I have to stop and remember, God brought me to them and He knew I was going to be their mama and a great mother for them.”
So, when you find yourself where your seasons seem upside down, hold on tight to God knowing He has a plan to get you to the end.
