Fall Into Understanding

According to the World Mental Health organization, “one in four adults will be affected by a mental illness or neurological disorder at some point in their life.” I cannot even wrap my mind around the image of so many suffering from these serious, and often overlooked or misdiagnosed, conditions. Currently there are 450 million people battling one of many mental health conditions, which makes mental health among the leading causes of illness and disability worldwide.
This gives us a reason to talk about it. Someone you know right now is suffering within the walls and borders of mental illness, (if you think you do not know someone, then know this writer is one of them). It is possible that someone you know has considered suicide, and it is possible that someone you know has carried it out. This devastating scenario deserves our love
and attention just like the many other illness we gather around and support.
In the coming two months we have an opportunity to join the efforts and break the stigma.
