have a solo exhibition of my print work in a gallery; to be able
to transform a space with paste-ups, drawings, hand-painted
type - if anyone who knows someone who’d let me do this,
please let me know! u SB Who are your art heroes? Sam: Barry
Mcgee, Margaret Kilgallen and the whole mission school art
movement. That whole movement was amazing and I love almost
everything that came out of it! u SB What advice would you
give to someone wanting to get into illustration? Sam: Do it! But
remember - in the early days make sure you save some money
from every job for the hard times!! Don’t learn it the hard way!
u S B Do you think anyone with Photoshop can be an illustrator
these days? Sam: Of course not! That’s like saying anyone with a
saw can be a carpenter - photoshop is a tool, not a magic wand.
u SB Do you have any pets? Sam: Yes my dog Charlie! He is by
turns the funniest and most annoying animal I have ever come
across - I love him! u SB If you could travel back in time which
period would you visit and why? Sam: New York in the early 80’s
would be amazing - seeing hip hop and graffiti and that whole
culture come together would be amazing.
