u SB What drew you to illustration? Lucia: I have always been
naturally talented and when I was a child I loved drawing
Walt Disney characters. u SB Do you have any formal design
training? Lucia: A Bachelor of Media Arts Degree in which I
majored in Moving Image. u SB Where are you from? Lucia: I
was born in Senigallia, a small city by the sea and surrounded
by the hills in the centre of Italy. u SB Where do you live now ?
Lucia: East london. u SB Describe your studio to me? Lucia: A
messy desk full of pastels, inks, mags and books. u SB What is
your biggest inspiration? Lucia: Contemporary pop and fashion
culture, photographers such as Herb Ritts, Irving Penn, Richard
Avedon, Sarah Moon; the Viennese Expressionism, Hokusai,
visionary films and fairy tales. u SB How do you get your ideas?
Lucia: Researching some beautiful pics, making a virtual collage,
studying the lines that better describes the subject. u SB Do
you collect anything? Lucia: Fashion magazines such as French
Vogue, Lula, Numero. I would love to collect music boxes and
postcards, but it’s a bit difficult as I keep moving flats; I will
when I finally settle down. u SB What are your interests outside
