of illustration? Max: I read a lot of books and comics. I’m pretty
nerdy about the sort of books I read, they tend to be older stuff
like the Pilgrim’s Progress and Dante’s Inferno. u SB Tell us about
a favourite project you’ve recently completed. Max: I recently
did a series of designs for shoes for Kings of Neon plimsolls. It
mixed two of the things I love the most; drawing and fashion. It
was a real pleasure to have a brief that was so open. I got a real
kick out of seeing the shoes made up with my drawings on them.
u SB Who are your illustration heroes? Max: I like comic artists
such as Adam Hughes, Frank Miller, Alex Ross. There is also a
woman who does 1950’s style pin up art called Olivier Turner
who I adore. u SB If you were not an illustrator, what would
you be? Max: A Fashion Designer. u SB Have you any hidden
talents? Max: I am a master at street fighter four on the x-box
360 and would gladly challenge anyone to a bout. u SB What
is your favourite graphics programme? Max: I love using Corel
Painter as it is built with the wacom tablet in mind, I find myself
using it more than Photoshop, although I do tend to use both
when working on an image.
