u SB This has been an exciting twelve months for you. What’s
been the best bit? Max: Being asked to appear in an illustration
book for the first time (Fashion Illustrator by Bethan Morris). u
SB Do you have any formal design training? Max: I left school
when I was sixteen having spent most of my teenage years
painting graffiti art and doing art work for friends’ bands and
music nights. I have been working professionally as an artist
ever since. u SB Where are you from? Max: I’m from Bristol - a
fantastic place to grow up if you want be an artist. Graffiti artists
from all over the world come to Bristol to paint. Growing up I got
to observe guys like Banksy painting murals. u SB What is your
biggest inspiration? Max: Aged 19 I worked as a scenic artist on
a feature film, painting graffiti. I got to work very closely with the
production designer and art director and they inspired me to look
at working to a deadline as something to get excited about rather
than stressed. To this day I still get a buzz when from sending
jobs off on-time. u SB Do you collect anything? Max: Toys old
and new. If I spot something that makes me laugh or that I think
is well sculpted, I’ll get it. u SB What are your interests outside
