out by New Covent Garden Foods, that was a lot of fun with a
very lovely client. Also I’ve been working on a packaging brief for
a company called Ahmad Teas, very different to my pastel work,
this brief was for photo-realistic images. I enjoy moving between
these different styles. u SB Who is your illustration hero? Barry:
I LOVE the way Fletcher Sibthorp puts paint on canvas. u SB
What do you say to people who say illustration isn’t really art?
Barry: They often have a point (though explain that to Picasso
when he was drawing Chupa Chups lollipop logos). There’s good
and poor illustration, authentic and inauthentic, the best is art. u
SB What advice would you give to someone wanting to get into
illustration? Barry: Have a good breakfast, brush your teeth and
get on with it. Believe in yourself. u SB If you could travel back
in time which period would you visit and why? Barry: Haight
Ashbury in 1967, obvious reasons. u SB Who would you like to
have as your muse if your were painting their portrait? Barry:
My agent, Juliette.
