I love some of the kitsch graphics and typography you can find
on book jackets from the 1950s and 60s, it’s a great place to
find interesting colourways, too. u SB Do you keep a scrapbook?
Victoria: I keep notebooks, where I jot down my ideas and
doodles. Any drawings found in these are like short hand, for
me to remember an idea. The top drawer of my plan chest holds
lots of miscellaneous snippets too. u SB Tell us about a favourite
project you’ve recently completed. Victoria: I was asked recently
to produce a series of food illustrations for the Sunday Times
Style supplement, I really enjoyed working on these. Who’d have
thought painting a poached egg would be so much fun?! u SB
What would be your dream commission? Victoria: To have the
opportunity and time to write and illustrate my own children’s
book. u SB Who are your illustration heroes? Victoria: Eric Carle,
Charley Harper, Quentin Blake, Lisbeth Zwerger. u SB Who are
your musical heroes? Victoria: Paul Kossoff, Free. u SB If you
could travel back in time which period would you visit and why?
Victoria: August 1970, for the Isle of Wight festival.
