SB Do you collect anything? Sarah: I have a collection of vintage
badges (I just paid over the odds for an original Michael Jackson
Thriller badge) and a penchant for military hats, particularly
Soviet. u SB Do you keep a scrapbook? Sarah: No, but my studio
is littered with what would be the contents of a scrapbook. u
SB What would be your dream commission? Sarah: Working
with Anna Piaggi on a series of fashion illustrations for Italian
Vogue. u SB Where is your favourite place? Sarah: Coney Island.
It’s the greatest place on earth and a wealth of all things tawdry
and carny, although it’s slowly being torn to bits. u SB You have
recently completed a montage of art badges recording the Body
Mass Index of celebrities; what inspired you? Sarah: The series of
100 badges was initially a response to the deaths of three South
American models, and then my research into the BMI statistics
of 50 prominent female celebrities. I discovered 69.8% are
underweight, and 18 out of the 50 are at or below what the World
Health Organisation defines to be starvation.
