porches drinking lemonade, the list is endless, so long as it
involves things of little consequence and of high social appeal.
u SB Do you keep a scrapbook? Britt: I keep a number of
sketchbooks, most completely filled with nonsensical doggerel
and hopeless drawings. I suppose it’s cathartic having such
aimless purposes in my sketching. u SB What would be your
dream job/commission? Britt: I’d love to make an entire book of
strange looking monsters and other absurd creatures. Oddities
are always great fun to illustrate. u SB Who are your illustration
heroes? Britt: Rockwell and all the great ink artists, Winsor
McCay, Heinrich Kley, John Hendrix, John Cuneo. u SB What
do you have bookmarked? Britt: Dictionary.com (as I’m always
second guessing myself). u SB Who would you like to have as
your muse if your were painting their portrait? Britt: A smelly
drifter with an implausible structure, with a beard so unkempt
that a bird has made a home of it, and he wears the same damn
striped shirt regardless of the weather. But when he does muster
a smile, children and some breeds of dog can somehow consider
him likeable even if only briefly.
