Cheers for China!
held in many cities, and it’s always making
the dragon dance!
Speaking of the Dragon Boat Festival, tons
of things are amazing! Like, really amazing.
Even the festival includes things that aren’t in
the water! Sometimes people carry a dragon,
and it’s a very popular feature. If you don’t
like dragons on land and prefer them on
water, that’s okay because one more very
popular activity in the Dragon Boat Festival is
Dragon Boat Racing. This activity includes
about 15 people in a boat against others. The
festival boat racing boats have very bright
dragon designs! Everything looks very
cheerful! The Dragon Boat Festival is very
exciting-it includes a bunch of cool things!
Well, it’s time to move on.
One more very awesome and popular
dance in China is the Lion Dance! The two
main dances in China are actually the Lion
and Dragon Dance! The Lion Dance is for big
occasions and to chase away evil spirits. The
special dance also brings good fortune! The
last fun fact for the Lion Dance is what it
symbolizes, which is superiority, power, and
wisdom in China’s culture! All these very
cool Lion Dance things are very fun- and it
always makes the lion ROAR!
FESTIVALS
Now comes one of my favorite times of
the year for festivals: Decorating and making
food! A very cool fact: The Mid-Autumn
festival in China was once the second
Valentine’s Day because it was very popular
and had very Valentine-ish decorations!
People were always decorating the town and
making delicious food! Speaking of food,
there was a festival that was the queen of
deliciousness: The Spring Festival! The Spring
Festival also includes: Dragon Dances,
Firecrackers, and many, many kinds of food-
Festivals! Yay! Festivals are probably the
main attraction in China, like a large
elephant getting all the attention in a tiny
garden! There are a lot of awesome, fun and
delicious festivals that people love! Another
festival that is usually celebrated are cultural
festivals. Beijing is also very important since
it is the cultural center at China which means
a different category of festivals have a wide
variety. On festivals on Chinese New Year,
almost every single person wears red because
it is a “good luck” color. During the festivals,
it helps scare away evil spirits while
storytelling. Also on festivals, which is a little
weird, (in some people’s opinion) washing,
sweeping, and taking out the garbage is not
allowed! You have to finish all your chores
before! On a very popular festival, the
Dragon Boat Festival, Qu Yuan, a Patriot Poet
drowned himself in the Miluo River, so
people worship him on that festival every
year. There are a LOT of fun facts for cultural
things and festivals, but there still are lots
more!
