WIND UP, BRING DOWN, WHACK! WILHELMINE GUENTHER PLAYING FIELD HOCKEY I magine it's the championship game for your field hockey team. You are extremely nervous. The referee calls the teams to get on the field. As you take your position, thoughts flash through your mind. Will I be carded? Who will win? The game shouldn't be that hard, I mean , it's sort of like soccer and ice hockey, right? You will never know until the adventure starts. The Gear The sport of field hockey is in many ways a mix of ice hockey and soccer. The equipment in field hockey looks like the equipment in ice hockey and soccer and is used in much the same way. The most important field hockey equipment is the stick and ball. The stick is flat on one side, and rounded on the other. The end of the stick is curved upward and is called the toe. Field hockey sticks normally weigh from 12 ounces to 28 ounces and are usually from 34 to 37 inches in Different types of sticks length. All sticks are right-handed. Even if you are left-handed you will have to play with a right-handed stick. In addition to the field hockey stick is the ball. The ball weighs about 5 đ ounces.
